Halloween, the time of year when ghost and ghouls come out to play. Kids are excited to get candy and show off their costume to everyone. People decorate their homes, hoping to scare their neighbours with their crazy props. We want to be scared. Yet it seems that 2020 has taken care of that for us already. Still, I’m a big fan of the unknown. In the spirit of Halloween, I wanted to write about strange experiences that happened to my wife and I.
The first one happened right after our Honeymoon in Barbados. We decided to go to Niagara on the Lake. It’s a beautiful spot with many wineries, but what this place has is a lot of history. Fort George was built there by the British to fight off the Americans in the war of 1812. With many deaths that went on there, a consider of amount of places will be haunted.
One of the places that we stayed in was the Prince of Wales. It’s a beautiful hotel that I would recommend for people to go to. For me, I just had a strange experience there. We were on a ghost walk when it started to rain. My wife and I were close by to the hotel, so I went inside to grab an umbrella. I enter our room to pick up the umbrella. The clock radio went off. I was freaked out, considering I was just on a ghost walk. I left the room, not wanting to investigate.
I told my wife about it. When we got back to our room, I looked at the clock radio. The alarm was not set to go off. I didn’t like that at all. We decided to go to bed and forget about the clock radio. In bed, I told my wife to stop touching my leg. She told me that she wasn’t touching my leg. Well, that was it. I was creep out for the rest of the night. Still, we didn’t learn our lesson.
The next day, we stayed at the Angel Inn. The inn was built in 1789 and rebuilt after the war of 1812 in 1815. There is a pub inside the Inn, and of course it has it’s own resident ghost name Captain Colin Swayze. This is another great place to stay. It is as if you are stepping back in time.
This time, the experience happened to my wife. After visiting a few wineries, we went to our room back at the inn. My wife wanted to walk around the inn, but I was tired from our day and went to bed. She went around the inn doing some audio recording. She wanted to get some E.V.P (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). The next day she talked about feeling some kind of electricity in the air. I found that a bit strange. When we got home, she cleaned up the audio recording. When my wife says that she can feel the electricity in the air, something tells her to stay.
I couldn’t explain it, so I let one of my friends who is an audio expert to listen to it. He couldn’t explain it either, but he suggested that it could be a fan or something else in the background. I just believe it was another weird experience.
Those two experiences were the last time anything like that happened to us. I will say that I can’t explain any of these encounters. Personally, I think they were just strange. I will admit I like watching the ghost shows on television for entertainment. Seeking out ghosts isn’t really my thing. I wanted to share these stories in the spirt of Halloween for this year, because it has been a horror show so far.
Be safe out there guys!
Also, visit Niagara on the the Lake.
