I have the opportunity to work at home, which I’m thankful. I like to wake up early to have my coffee and watch as my wife has to commute to work. Sure, there are some Fridays that I’m still in my sleeping attire, only to tell my wife it dress down Friday at work for me. Trust me when I say that it doesn’t fly with her.

Yet, I do have a boss who controls my day. She always watches over me with her bitty little eyes. My boss who sticks her nose into my business is my cat Violet.

Of late, the cat has been on me like my shadow. Where ever I go in the condo, she has to follow right behind me, meowing to make sure that I have her attention. I can be in the zone while working at my desk. Violet will creep up to my chair and start to scratch it. Once I look at her, she will meow at me knowing that I have her attention. Like the sucker that I am, I will pick her up and put her on my lap.

Don’t get me wrong, when she starts to purr, it’s kind of relaxing. That is when she decides that she wants to become a wall and block me from my work. She crawls up on the desk, block my view of my monitor and lay on the keyboard. That’s when I know she is in charge.

It would be, so easy just to pick her up and put on the ground. Nope, I let her stay on my lap like a chump. It makes me wonder if I’m letting my cat control me, am I becoming a crazy cat man? I refuse to accept that, but at the same time I do let Violet be the boss around here. Also, my wife is guilty of doing the same thing. I guess our cat has the only child syndrome, maybe it’s time to get a dog again.
