Being In a Rut happens

What happens when you slack off on your goals that you plan for yourself. In a previous blog. I have planned some goals for myself. I told myself that I was going to follow a strict plan to at least accomplish some of my goals. Yet, I kind of hit a wall.

I guess my mindset was thrown off because I was treating my goals as almost like a job. I kind of forgot at times that this was something that I wanted to do. I watched nine seasons of Seinfeld to distract myself. I’m not upset watching Seinfeld, it’s a classic show. When I did finish watching it all, that is when I came to the realization that I wasn’t working on my goals.

I was punishing myself. I should have been more focus and driven to work on them. My mindset made me feel awful. I don’t like to feel this way. So what I did was focus on the simple goals, like focus on my cardio, which I talked about in a previous blog. By working on the baby steps, I have gotten back into a rhythm.

I feel better that I am back on track. I do tell myself that it’s okay not to complete some of the goals. I shouldn’t be hard on myself. Now, I wonder what other show is going to distract me? I did hear Cobra Kai is pretty good.

  1. This is such a common feeling in academia. Even when we are resting, we cannot rest because we often use ‘rest’ to escape from taking the baby steps.
